Offshore Structural Project Engineer

Our partner is a Belgian transmission system operator (TSO) responsible for the high-voltage transmission grid in Belgium and parts of Germany. They ensure the reliable and secure supply of electricity to consumers and facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid. Currently, they are developing a new project: The Princess Elisabeth Energy Island. This project aims at developing and building a new grid infrastructure, i.e., offshore transmission infrastructure and cables, in the Belgian part of the North Sea. The project purpose is to create an energy hub – in the form of an artificial island – not only to provide an efficient, reliable means of connecting new Belgian offshore power to the mainland, but also to make optimal use of the power production areas in other parts of the North Sea by accommodating a connection point for (hybrid) interconnectors. The Belgian energy island will therefore contribute to the development of a meshed network at sea that will adequately distribute the offshore production among the different consumption centres according to their needs.

To strenghten their engineering team, we are looking for a Structural Engineer who will:

• work in a multidisciplinary team of engineers and experts and align with the other disciplines such as electrical, civil, utilities, transport & installation, ...
• be responsible for managing part of the structural steel and layouting aspects of the substations
• act as SPOC for the EPC contractor
• perform and validate detailed engineering of offshore platforms and substations, also regarding to a very important aspect that is corrosion protection
• approve third party documents, studies and engineering and controls quality
• report to the Structural Lead

This is a long-term fulltime mission that will be 5 days a week in Brussels (+/-2 days homeworking possible) and will include short business trips to contractors (more extensive during construction).

• You have at least 4 years of relevant working experience
  • Experience in the offshore sector is a plus
  • Experience with structural engineering of offshore platforms is a large plus
• Education: Engineer (preferably structural)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Practical MS Office skills
• Fluent in English (Dutch, French is a plus)
